In search of petroglyphs - Lion's Mouth Cave

About 15 miles due west of Cedar City lies one of Southern Utah's hidden gems. It is just a short hike up a hill off Pinto Road and the landscape reveals an amazing example of archaic petroglyphs lining the walls of an overhanging cave. The symbols are thought to have been produced by the Fremont Indians somewhere between 700 and 1300 a.d. It is a sacred site to locals and certainly worth a visit for an awesome way to connect back to the past. But just in case, here are some closeups to try and translate yourself. I got lost trying to figure out what this apparent timeline means, but what a fantastic day of Spring Break fun. I was just happy my shots turned out better this adventure.
